DISSYSTEMA INTERVIEW-2008

Hey!! i´m hearing DISSYSTEMA since their first demo and split ep with HOLOKAUST...i passed a long time without hear many things about them,since i got a copy of their amazing LP "The Silent Earth"...a few different than their first works...but still fucking great too!!!...then i decided to do this interview with them for my poor zine...since i´m doing this with just bands i really like!!!...the interview was answered by Arno who plays guitars!!

VP=Well, let’s start with that boring question....can you say a short history about DISSYSTEMA???? when was formed....etc...
JAY: We started in June of 2002 as a 3 piece (Kev on drums, Steve on guitar and vocals and myself on bass an vocals). Shortly after I moved to 2nd guitar and we just played with no bass player. Kev quit and we found Tom to replace him as well as gained Rob as bassist. By this time we released 2 demos, the splits with Holokaust, Earth Today, and Endless Nightmare and our first LP “Grim Prospects of Our Future”. Tom left the band and Todd replaced him on drums and since then we have released a 7”EP and the 2nd LP “The Silent Earth”.

VP=.WHY "DISSYSTEMA"????
JAY: Well when we started out we were playing the most basic and simplistic raw punk we could, on purpose of course. And we basically chose a band name that was as basic and simplistic as our musical style. This was not a joke, we just love d beat and raw punk so wanted to fall directly into those ranks.

VP=Who are playing what now??? And your members are palying in other bands too???...or doing some others works in underground scene like zines,distros,labels,etc??
JAY: As I mentioned before it is now me and Steve on guitar and vocals, Rob on bass and vocals, and Todd on drums. From time to time Steve, Rob and myself also play in a side project called Nightfall (back to basics Japanese influenced raw punk). Todd for a bit was playing drums in Lost Cause and bass in I Hate This but no longer. Rob is also singing and playing guitar for SPG (Special Patrol Group…a more US hardcore influenced band) and Steve is playing guitar and singing in a peace/crust trio called Aledriver. From time to time I’ll do a zine and we distro a bit at our own shows and things like that.

VP=I’m hearing your works since your split with HOLOKAUST and i saw that the songs=music are going in different directions....musically and lyrically too...what do you say about this?? Well I have to say too that to me the band continues amazing!!!!!!!!!
JAY: Well thanks a lot! We ran out of raw punk riffs, they’ve all been played before ha ha! But no really, what we do now is a little more crusty a little more metal influenced. This just stems from the fact that we love equally so many different styles of music. Including this in our sound is important cause I think otherwise we might start getting frustrated if we didn’t have more of an outlet for things we need to play or write rather than just one thing over and over. Lyrically I don’t think we have changed too much, but there certainly are more lyrics present in each song rather than just one line verses and one line choruses, which is fine and you will still continue to see the familiar “Discharge” format emerge from time to time.

VP=what are your biggest influences?? or favorite bands??
JAY: Well of course things like Discharge, Amebix, Anti Cimex and things like that are very present in our sound, but we all listen to such a variety of things. Every thing from good metal and thrash to blue grass, jazz and folk. A lot of US and UK 80’s hardcore. Personally the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The list would just be too many to name, and probably even more of a task to come up with a favorite.

VP=what about your tours??? special moments or something special to say about?? are you thinking to tour Brazil someday???
JAY: I think ideally we want to tour atleast once any and every place in the world. Just when and where we will strike first is a toss up at the moment. Brazil would absolutely be amazing I think for sure! And of course Japan seems like it could be quite fun. We have only done the West Coast of the US (with In Haste from seattle! It was amazing!!!) and many East Coast and Southern US states. So we have a lot of ground to cover for sure.

VP=What do you enjoy about Brazilian bands=scene?? etc...
JAY: Personally I don’t know too much about what goes on in the scene in Brazil. For a long time now I have enjoyed Ratos De Porao, Armagedom, DFA, Desastre is wonderful!! Lobotomia of course.

VP= Who write the lyrics?? and from where come the inspirations?? since lyrics like "No one" (The Silent Earth lp) for example is really poetic and beyond from "usual" ways to write punk themes...really nice!!
JAY: We all have a hand in writing the lyrics. Most often the lyrics you hear each one of us sing, are the ones we have written. Steve said that “No One” is simply about humankinds utter indifference for each other. Inspiration comes in many forms for all of us I think. The more we see in life whether it be positive or negative, that all finds its way into our words. Sometimes a movie brings inspiration, sometimes a person having died in the streets for unjust reasons, humankinds overall cruelty for the world we live in and son….that inspires us.

VP=Do you believe that political lyrics can "change" something ?
JAY: I think the lyrics themselves tell tales of where we’ve been, how we view the world….and that’s something for someone else to either be inspired by or not. For real change to come about, there is only so far words can go. Action. As they say speaks volumes larger than words. This isn’t to say violence should always be that action, but sometimes just living your life as respectfully as you can around our fellow humans and animals can pay off drastically. Everyone needs to pay it forward you know? Voice yourself if you feel something is wrong or right. And fucking live by those words.

VP=Marald is an excellent artist!! a monster!! how you make the sleeve of "The Silent Earth" lp with he?? the ideas for the art are from you??? or he made it totally by himself ideas??
JAY: The idea of the Silent Earth is a vision I had of the future after mankind has either died off or have been removed from the Earth. The Earth begins to heal itself FINALLY from all the destruction we’ve wrought. I wanted to see our remains encapsulated by mother earth. And Marald brought this vision to life so beautifully. His paintings are just absolutely breathtaking.

VP=What’s the news and next projects from DISSYSTEMA ??
JAY: More writing, more touring with any luck. This machine can’t stop steam rolling even if we wanted it to ha ha.

VP=And now the end...the end is near...it’s time to say...
JAY: Goodbye for now my friend, thank you so much for the interest in us.
Come to the US please as Besthoven and we will be your live band if you need it!!!

GIVE UP ALL HOPE INTERVIEW-2008

YEAH!! Fucking amazing D-beat Crust from U.K.!!! This i made with ARNO who plays guitar and play too at VISIONS OF WAR!!!
Let´s go!!!

VP=you started in middle of 2004 i..m right?? can you tell a short history of the band??
ARNO=HI THERE FAFAO!
IM ARNO AND I PLAY GUITAR.YES I THINK THE BAND STARTED WITH GIAN LUCA ON BASS AND RICHARD AND CHRIS ON GUITARS IN 2004.
IN FACT THE FIRST TIME I SAW THEM THEY WERE OPENING FOR MY BAND AT THE TIME(VISIONS OF WAR)AT A LONDON GIG AND WERE CALLED "CONDEMNED TO OPPRESSION"S!
AFTER MULTIPLE DRUMMER AND SINGER CHANGES THE BAND RECORDED A 7" UNDER THE NAME "GIVE UP ALL HOPE" FOR NEVER HEALED REC(THIS WILL EVENTUALLY END UP WITH SOME EXTRAS ON THE DISTORT UK MEXICO SPLIT CD WITH ANTIMASTER).
LATER RICHARD AND THE SINGER AT THE TIME LEFT AND THATS WHEN I CAME INTO THE PICTURE.
I JUST HAD MOVED TO LONDON AND THEY ASKED ME TO JOIN JUST BEFORE THE MEXICAN TOUR.
AT THE TIME THE LINE UP WAS ROBERT-DRUMS,GIAN LUCA-BASS, ME AND CHRIS-GUITARS.
STILL HAVING PROBLEMS TO FIND A SINGER CHRIS AND ROBERT TOOK ON THE SCREAMING DUTY AND FOR A WHILE IT SEEMED LIKE THE BAND HAD FINALLY FOUND SOME STABILITY...
WE TOURED MEXICO WITH OUR BROTHERS OF "ANTIMASTER",THEN EUROPE WITH "VAE VICTIS" FROM SYDNEY,THEN THE UK WITH ANTIMASTER AND FINALLY AUSTRALIA FEB LAST YEAR,AGAIN WITH VAE VICTIS.
AFTER THAT WE DID ONE LAST SHOW IN LIEGE,BELGIUM,AND THAT WAS IT...ROBERT HAD TO QUITE DUE TO RECURRENT KNEE AND ARM INJURIES,AND CHRIS DECIDED TO LEAVE AS WELL AT THAT TIME...
AFTER A WHILE I TALKED WITH GIAN LUCA AND WE DECIDED NOT TO GIVE UP(HA HA).
I TOOK US A YEAR ALMOST BUT WE FOUND MIKKEY AND FLAVIO,AND IT JUST SEEMED NATURAL THAT CATHY FROM VAE VICTIS,NOW LIVING IN THE UK,WOULD PICK UP THE MIC.
SHE IS AN AMAZING SINGER AND HAVING BEEN ON TOUR TWICE WITH US FOR 3WEEKS SHE KNEW PERFECTLY THE SONGS!
PFFF,ARE WE DONE YET??FUCKING LONG HISTORY HAHA!

VP=why "GIVE UP ALL HOPE"?? It..s a hail to CROW ??
A=YES!!!

VP-You said me about some news!! new line up and new releases..can you tell us more about???
A=YEAH,ITS REALLY EXCITING TO BE BACK!!!WE ONLY HAD SOMETHING LIKE 3 OR 4 PRACTICES BUT THINGS ARE GOING GOOD AND WE ALREADY HAVE A SHOW PLANNED IN DECEMBER AND A FEW TOURS IN MIND.
OUR SPLIT WITH VAE VICTIS HAS JUST BEEN RELEASED AND RECEIVED GOOD REVIEWS!#
NOW WE ARE WAITING FOR OUR SPLIT "NO CONFORME"(SPAIN) TO BE RELEASED.THOSE ARE BASICALLY SONGS RECORDED DURING THE SAME SESSION AS THE SPLIT WITH VAE VICTIS,STILL WITH CHRIS AND ROB. IM REALLY PROUD OF IT,I FELL LIKE THE BAND REALLY IMPROVED SINCE THE FIRST 7".

VP-and you said me that want to tour in Brazil too!! are you doing some contacts about this? or is just a plan for the future??
A=YES,WE REALLY WANNA COMES TO BRAZIL!
WE JUST DONT KNOW WHEN!
WE HAD A FEW PEOPLE ASKING US BUT NOTHING PLANNED YET.
YOU CAN BE SURE YOU WILL BE ONE OF THE FIRST ONE TO KNOW FAFAO!!!CAUSE OF COURSE WE WANNA PLAY WTH BESTHOVEN!!!
BUT SOON HOPEFULLY,BRAZIL AND GO BACK TO MEXICO AS WELL!

VP-about brazil...what do you know and enjoy about brazilian scene??? past and today???
A=UNFORTUNATELY I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE BRAZILIAN SCENE,EXCEPT FOR SOME GREAT BANDS AND MY FRIENDS LIVING IN LONDON AND EUROPE. SO ITS TIME TO GO AND CHECK IT FOR OURSELF!!!CANT WAIT!

VP-your biggest influences?? since that you keeping the d-beat,crust....but with others elements musically too and really well worked as well!!
A-THANX!!!WELL I GUESS OF COURSE OUR MAIN INFLUENCES ARE ALL THE GREAT SWEDISH D-BEAT BANDS,PAST AND PRESENT.
AND THE UK SCENE AS WELL,DISCHARGE OF COURSE,DISASTER,E.N.T,AMEBIX ETC
BUT WE ALSO TRY TO HAVE OUR OWN PERSONALITY.
BASICALLY WE JUST TRY TO NOT BE GENERIC AND BORING AND MAKES SURE ALL THE SONGS DONT SOUND THE SAME.
WE TAKE THE WRITING PROCESS SERIOUSLY.
I PERSONALLY LISTEN TO A LOT OF METAL,AND TRY TO BRING A LITTLE METAL EDGE TO IT,WITHOUT ALL THE BULLSHIT.
GOD THAT SOUND PRETENTIOUS HAHA!

VP=how peoples see "d-beat,crust,discore" there today??? there..s stupid critcizing or talking shit against yet??
A=WELL IT SEEMS LIKE THE D-BEAT FASHION IS A BIT LESS CRAZY THIS DAYS.
BUT YOU KNOW,AS IM SURE ITS THE SAME FOR YOU,GIAN LUCA ,CATHY AND ME WERE LISTENING TO THAT KIND OF STUFF LONG TIME BEFORE IT WAS "COOL",AND WE WILL STILL BE LISTENING TO IT WHEN PEOPLE WILL BE CRAZY ABOUT ANOTHER HYPE.
IT DOESNT CHANGE ANYTHING FOR US.BUT I THINK THE MOVEMENT IS REALLY GREAT AND STRONG TOO AT THE SAME TIME,LOADS OF GREAT BANDS AND PEOPLE AROUND AT THE MOMENT.

VP=who write the lyrics? and what you want to show in?
A=EVERYONE IN THE BAND USE TO WRITE SOME LYRICS.
OUR LYRICS ARE VERY SIMPLISTIC I GUESS ,BUT THAT GOES WITH OUR KIND OF MUSIC..WE ARE NOT REALLY A "CONFLICT" CLONES BAND HAHA!
BUT A LOOKING FORWARD TO CATHY GETTING INVOLVED IN THE WRITING PROCESS,SHE WROTE AMAZING STUFF FOR HER OLD BANDS AND IS VERY CREATIVE.

VP-did you made tours in mexico and australia...something you want to say about??? better moments...better shows...etc...?
A=BOTH WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING,BUT I GUESS PEOPLE WERE MORE EXCITED TO SEE US IN MEXICO.
"ANTIMASTER" DID SUCH A GREAT JOB WITH THIS TOUR,AMAZING PEOPLE. WE MEET SOME AWESOME PEOPLE THERE AND HAD A GREAT RESPONSE FROM THE CROWD.
I CANT HONESTLY WAIT TO GO BACK!SALUT PINCHE BORRACHOS!
AUSTRALIA WAS FUCKING COOL TOO,AND ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO HANG OUT WITH OUR FRIENDS OF VAE VICTIS, PISSCHRIST, DEATHCAGE, SCHIFOSI ETC .WE HAD A BIT MORE TIME ON THAT TOUR SO WE MANAGED TO ENJOY SOME DAYS OFF,SWIMMING AND CAMPING ON THE BEACH,GREAT!I STAYED THERE 4 MONTHS AND LOVED IT!
SYDNEY,MELBOURNE AND BRISBANE WERE THE BEST SHOWS I THINK.

VP=And now the end...the end is near...it..s time to say......
A=TIME TO SAY A BIG THANX TO YOU FAFAO FOR DOING THIS INTERVIEW,I REALLY HOPE WE GOT TO PLAY TOGETHER ONE DAY!
KEEP ON THE GOOD WORK WITH THE ZINE AND THE BAND!
I WILL JUST LIST A FEW BANDS FROM LONDON THAT HAVE MEMBERS OR EX MEMBERS OF GIVE UP AND THAT ARE WORTH CHECKING OUT:
"RETCHER"(MY NEW BAND,METAL D-BEAT WITH DUAL FEMALE VOCALS,JUST RELEASED OUR FIRST DEMO),"BEGINNING OF THE END"(DOWN TUNED DARK CRUST WITH FEMALE VOCALS)."NAILBITER"(GIAN LUCA'S OLD BAND,THEY DONT EXIST ANYMORE BUT THEY WERE GREAT!)
AL RIGHT,CHEERS N BEERS,HOPEFULLY SEE YOU SOON!

JÄTESAHA INTERVIEW-1998

Yeah!!...a old and many nice friend called RISTO ERONEN from SHJ Records in Finland made this interview to me with the amazing JÄTESAHA back in 1998..or just 10 years ago!!!
And how i want to publish here the most cool things of my old zine i decided to publish it here too...since i don´t hear many things about them...maybe they broke up...i have just their amazing split ep with HARDCORES...
And now......JÄTESAHA !!!
+Published in Vermynoze Putrida Zine Number 22-november-1998+

"JÄTESAHA is a band wich comes from Oulu,Northern Finland,They play simple and furious hardcore w the style of RIISTETYT and KAAOS.A year ago JÄTESAHA put out a self-financed 7" split ep with HARDCORES (Other great HC band from Oulu) and after sending a review copy to Fofão.I decided to do an interview of JÄTESAHA for V.P. Zine.
Tumppi=the vocalist,answered the questions.Here goes..."
(RISTO ERONEN-SHJ RECORDS)

VP=Beguining cliches,when and why JÄTESAHA was founded.who are the players & how old are you? what are you doing in the "civilian-life" along with the band?
T=JÄTESAHA was founded originally in january-1994,then we had the different name and line-up.
The reason for forming a band was very simple:we just wanted to play and nowadays it has comes as a way of life.
JÄTESAHA consists for 4 members=ANA-GUITAR,PETE-BASS,SAMI-DRUMS and TUMPPI-VOICES,Ana is 29 years and unemployed he plays also guitar on HARDCORES and drums on GANGSTERS.
Pete is 32 years and he´s on computer courses.Sami is 19 years and unemployed,play drums in some crust bands.And me (Tumppi) i´m 19 years old and i´m on training for the work.I publish fanzine with my girlfriend called TEHOKAASU and it´s 3rd number out now.
Also on the works is a compilation tape wich includes Colombian hc/noise.I´m planning to start a little distro,but i had to have some money so i could take records for sale.

VP=Who write your songs and what are they telling about? in wich kind of situations the lyrics comes to your mind?
T=Mostly the songs are made by me and Sami,but also Ana and Pete have done some songs.
Well,the lyrics deal with the same subjects as others hc bands have like war,violence and so on,anyhow the new songs are changeable in relation to both lyrics and music and i think that´s a good thing.
Some lyrics have born in the time when i´ve walked in the town at traffic-jam and looked at people there,how they walk like big zombies masses without hearing seeing nothing.They´re like automatics.who walk from cradle to the grave and obey the rules thry´ve learned from fucking society.Then i´ve thought: "no thanx" "i don´t want to be part of that shit".
Some lyrics have come under the big pressure/opression and in generally they are fucking desperate,as an example i could give lyrics from old songs it tells about how i´m going to another,better world where nobory feels hate & bitterness and i´ll be the place where i could be free without anybody watching you and what are you doing.
Then some lyrics tells about the dishonesty of people,example "Viholiseni" or "my enemy" is made,When i had to disapoint to people i´ve trust.

VP=Give me a short list of bands who are your favourites/influences?
T=My personal favourites are: RIISTETYT,DISORDER,CÓLERA,KAAOS,LOBOTOMIA...I could go on forever,but i think those are just few examples.

VP=Your relations to alcohol,drugs & SE punks? How about vegetarism,is there found any supporters of it from JÄTESAHA?
T=Everybody from JÄTESAHA drinks alcohol more or less.My girlfriend is a Straight Edge so at least i don´t have nothing against SxExs .I will let live their lifes and hope the same from them.
I think the drugs are full of shit.i´ve never used and never will be,same goes for the mixing alcohol and medicines.
I don´t see any reason to destroy yourself with this kind of junk,of course alcohol kills you too if you drink it everyday but hard drugs kill you faster.
Anyhow somebody wants to do drugs that´s their business.
We´ve 2 vegetarians on band; Pete and I.Sami and Ana eat animals,but it´s their personal thing.

VP=A year ago you got released a split 7" with HARDCORES,how did you ended up in this solution and what was the quantity of print?
T=Yeah,the record has been done and we pressed 300 copies.
At first we planned to do a split tape ,but then we thought to realease it as 7" ep.
If we could get chance to reahearse,we´d purpose to go into studio to record own ep called "Myyrän Maailma"

VP=Opinion about current punk scene? do you like example these melodic US bands wich are popular everywhere,how about 77 revival ?
T=Oh...what could i say into this...i think,punk scene is quite good,new labels have come along into it even here in Oulu and that´s great! there´s zines,bands,gigs,etc.bad thing is that punks fight against others.
Some people who thinks they are important and unique tells others "if you don´t do this or that" you are not a punk or if you listen this and that band you are not a punk?
Why we have to fight such on things,wich don´t lead anywhere??
If those melodic yankee bands are same as offspring and green day,i don´t like ´em !! I simply can´t standing on them!
For sure i´ll listen 77 styled bands quite a lot,mostly older Finnish ones and from newer acts like PUNK LUREX OK!

VP=Multinational companies have caused discussions among punks in last years,so do you have to buy cokes,hamburguers and (S)hell gasoline? do you use products wich are not tested on animals?
T=I´ve left behind cokes and hamburguers ages ago,Pete is only from us whow owns a car and he don´t fill tank at Shell and it´s good!
My shampoos and soaps are not tested in animals,i feel good,when my hair is not washed on rabbit´s blood,i try to live so far as i can without anybody harming animals for me.medicine is the only problem,but fortunatelly i don´t need eat´em that often.

VP=Final comments?!
T=Many thanx for the interview!
punks in Brazil,please take in contact only just for fun and bands from there offer your records for sale´em here.
Bands could be write too for possibily interviews on my zine!
all the best!

ATROCIOUS MADNESS INTERVIEW-2000

Well,back in some years ago....i remember that i get many interested to hear and know a "discore" band named FINAL MASSAKRE co´z a flyer i saw...then i opened contacts writing to them(by normal post=letters=without internet) then a nice guy called Frank who was the vocalist from FINAL MASSAKREA writed me back saying that the band broke up and he was playing in a new and totally fucking amazing as well band called ATROCIOUS MADNESS!!!
I keep shocked with their first songs i hear from them!! a totally noise hardcore in the veins of old japanese masters like CONFUSE,GLOOM,etc...
The band broke up like many peoples know...and some members are today in LEBENDEN TOTEN...
But hope you all enjoy this cool interview answered in october-2000 for 3 ATROCIOUS MADNESS members....and published in my poor xeroxed zine VERMYNOZE PUTRIDA number 26 in middle of april-2001..........

VP=Tell us about the history of ATROCIOUS MADNESS...
JOEL=I met Frank in an institution for crazy people.Iwas in for assault and battery,so naturally Frank recruited me to play drums.He was in for having paranoid conspiracy delusions.
Everybody else in the band are wanted sonic outlaws.
FRANK=Uh...There was Saira and Channel on guitar and Rodney on bass,then tehy got the rest of us.Well,not Hopper.
HOPPER=I´m the newest in the band.I replaced Saira who played until Oct. 98.
F=She lives in Minneapolis now and still does her zine Diminutive Rage.She will also be releasing the lost ATROCIOUS MADNESS spli 7" with EPÄJÄRJESTYS.

VP=Tell us your line up...and if your members make others works in your city...
J=Joel-drums,Frank-vocals,Channel-guitar,Brian-guitar,Rodney-bass,I´m also in AXIOM and Brian and I are in HELLSHOCK.
H=I also play guitar in WARMACHINE and starting a zine called 'To the Death".
F=I do a label called Whispers in the Darkness and will have 7"s by DISCLOSE,DEFUSE,UNIT and STRACONY coming out.As well as coreleasing the ATROCIOUS MADNESS stuff on Atrocious release.I play bass in a band called FUNERAL and do R"lyeh Rising zine,wich is a cross between punk rock and HP. Lovecraft,There are 5 issues out so far.We also book shows here in town.

VP=Tell us about your lyrics...
F=A lot seems to do with a view of the future,how we are bringing it about and what we can do to change.Well,there isn´t always a solution presented in the song,but we try to have an explanation to go with them since there is only so much you can get out in under a minute,the normal topics of punk songs.Like HAARP project in Alaska that is killing wildlife,effecting world weather patterns and damaging the atmosphere or Chemtrails left behind planes that are causing out breaks of illness in those esposed and no one knows why.Conspiracy type things you could say but they are all based in fact and the only reason they are relegated to "conspiracy" is because they aren´t widely accepted by mainstream media.There are songs that cover animal rights,environmentalism,corporate racism,religion and human apathy as well but...on the next 7" "Spectres of Holocaust" a lot of the songs tie into the US govermments importation of Nazi scientists,officials and military leaders at the end of the World War 2 and the different projects they were involved with(creation of the space program/CIA,death squads,spy networks,etc...)some of wich still function today.The president actually came out and apologized for this a few years ago and nothing has been heard about it outside of underground press since.

VP=Your favorite bands...and influences...
H=I´m sure all our favorite bands will be totally different but mine are=BLACK SABBATH,VOIVOD,POISON IDEA,DISCHARGE,AXEGRINDER,DEATHSIDE,GODFLESH,TERRORIZER,etc...Influences for this band would be CONFUSE(Obviously),old SODOM and older,noisey European and Japanese bands.
F=yeah,our influences are pretty blatant,but that´s what we want sound like,aside from CONFUSE who i don´t think we really sound too much like.I´d say GLOOM,LIFE,COLLAPSE SOCIETY,DISCLOSE,As well as KURO,GAI,DISORDER,CHAOS UK,and all the older stuf,for my favorites i´d say DISCHARGE,THE MOB,ANTISECT,CONFUSE,IRON MAIDEN,JOY DIVISION,CONFLICT,EXIT STANCE,ALTERNATIVE,OMEGA TRIBE,HAWKIND,MOSKWA,RUBELLA BALLET,etc...that´s just a short list though.
J=AXEGRINDER,CELTIC FROST,SMARTPILS,AMEBIX,NAPALM DEATH,JUDGEMENT,DISFEAR,ETC...

VX=Why " ATROCIOUS MADNESS " ?
J=What else is there?? nothing else suits are insanity!!
H=Why not ?
F=Actually we were going to be called "Spending loud night" but then someone said "That´s stupid,we might as well be called ATROCIOUS MADNESS".And there you go.Plus it does sort of describe the sound of a band that few members can actually play in!

VP=Tell us about your discography...and future projects...
F=Our first release was our demo..."No more room in hell".I think it had 9 songs and our first live show on it.That was with Saira still on guitar.Most of the songs on that got released on our first 7" Visions of Hell" on Tribal War records as a benefit for a couple of animal rights groups.The demo also was released as a split tape with MAHOGANY from Brazil.At the same time we recorded these we did songs for a split 7" with EPÄJÄRJESTYS from Finland that was suposed to be released on The End records but never come out.It seems though that will be released in a limited quantity by Fight records and with a main pressing being done by Saira.Our side is called "The Shape of Things to Come". Then we self released "The Uses of HAARP' 7' and recorded songs for a split with RESULT from Japan,They since broke up and two of members formed WHY?,wich is who the split will be with now.That will be on FFT records from Japan.All the tracks from these 7's got released on cassete in Malaysia as well.We just put out a 3 songs flexi and recorded for a 7" on Wicked Witch records(Holland) called "Spectres of Holocaust".There are some tape comps as well...We have no recording plans-past this but will attempt to go to Japan maybe next year.

VP=What´s punk to you ?
H=Punk to me is living outside of the suposed "norm" as much as possible.Doing things with friends as musch as i can,without supporting fucked up companies.Looking like i want to and eating a diet that exploits the least amount of lives.
J=sticking to your beliefs and ideals,not conforming to the status quo,working together for everyones benefit.
F=I guess yeah...living an altenative lifestyle to the mainstream "deathculture".Doing things for yourself and having a feeling of strenght in those you associate with.

VP=Tell us about the gigs in Portland...and great bands you have played with...
H=Gigs in Portland right now are very hit or miss,very few all ages places to play but a lot of very good bands,RELIGIOUS WAR,AFTERMATH,YANKEE WUSS,THE RIFFS...
J=REMAINS OF THE DAY,BENT OVER BACKWARDS...
F=DEATHCHARGE,TRAGEDY,TERROR STRICKENS.Shows are mostly in basements.Wich is good because you don´t have to deal with some club owner trying to rip you off.but they usually have to be over 10 o'clock.Different people go to different shows depending on whose playing.Most of the bands get along and play shows together.

VP=What do you know about Brazilian punk scene??
J=I know of some random,CONFUSION,RDP,Not so much about the actual scene itself.i´d like to know more,please,inform me!
F=When i was a metal head,SEPULTURA's "Beneath the remains" had just come out and we were all totally blown away and tried to find other brazilian bands.Of course they talked a lot about RDP,so that was one of the first ones i know about,but a lot of the Cogumelo stuff like HOLOCAUSTO,CHAKAL,SARCOFAGO(fucking awesome!!)etc...That´s mostly metal bands though.Dear jesus also had an interview with a punk from Brazil that was really cool and i found out a little about the scene from that.Other than those not much,ARMAGEDOM,BESTHOVEN of course and some newer bands and labels like NO FASHION.

VP=Final words....
J=Thanx for the interview! all who wish to write us please do!
H=Hello to Brazilian friends !!
F=Thanx for the space in your ace zine!! I can´t believe you´ve done it for 10 years!!! anyone interested in our records,lyrics or shirts just write us and tell us more about the brazilian scene! it´s obvious we´re very much lacking!

SKELETON INTERVIEW-2008

And now an interview with my great friends from Canada=SKELETON!!!!! A Mass of Raw D-beat Crust devastation!!!!!!!!!!!

1-hey!! 1st...tell us a short history about SKELETON...since the year you started....and the changes till today...etc...do you started like a 4 members band and now are a 3 members band??? etc...who plays what today...

Skeleton formed in 2003 as a side project band between friends. We were all playing in other bands together, namely under pressure, and I wanted to play some raw d-beat punk crust shit like the old Swedish bands (crude ss, anti cimex, bombanfall, etc.) so when we were out eating at a restaurant together one day I suggested it. The line up was Dan (bass), Cam (drums), Mike (guitar), and Tyson (vocals). This line up only lasted for one practice and soon we realized that we would work better with Dan (drums/vox), Cam (bass), Mike (guitar). We played with this line up for about a year until we took some time off and recorded the “what will you do” cassette demo then 7” ep which Cries of Pain put out. On this recording it is just myself (Dan) and Mike playing everything. After the release of this we played some gigs then took some time off, I wrote and recorded the split LP with Besthoven and “no fire in a desolate land” LP by myself and since then we have just been casually gigging and slowly working towards new material with this line up: Dan (guitar/vox), Cam (bass), Mike(drums)-this is a different mike than before.

2.why "SKELETON"?????

The name was originally a joke, it’s kind of cheesy but the more I thought about it the more I liked it. Most of our songs are about human misery in some regard so you can look into the name with that in mind if you want, or not…It’s just a punk name, man! Hah.

3.favorite bands and influences??....they are the same yet???
When we first started the influences were mainly anti cimex and crude ss, but nowadays we’re taking a bit more from poison idea, bastard, death side…while still being rooted in the original ‘Scandinavian’ sound. Obviously discharge is a huge influence, and old metal bands like bathory, hellhammer…

4.what about your discography...and new upcoming releases???
So far we have:
Skeleton – what will you do demo Tape (11 songs incl. crudity cover ‘the total end’)
Skeleton – what will you do 7” (8 songs, the best tracks from the demo)
Skeleton/Besthoven LP
Skeleton/Dead Dogs live Tape
Up next:
Skeleton – no fire in a desolate land LP
Skeleton – who’s in control? 7”

The “No fire in a desolate land” LP will be released on Abuse Records out of Beligium. I’d like to take the time right now to say that this LP was originally supposed to be release on Yellowdog records, but unfortunately that lying, deceiving bastard Sven delayed the release of the record by over 2 years by stringing us on with lies and empty promises. He put us in a weird situation and I would strongly encourage all bands and labels not to deal with Sven in the future. Fuck you Sven. And endless thanks to Tony/Abuse Records for saving this LP and making it happen. Expect it to be out winter 08/09.

5.what tha fucking hell you have in their minds to do a split with Besthöven?????(hahahaha)

I got your ‘more victims of war’ 7” and was absolutely floored when I heard it. I loved the sound and approach you had, and thought you’d like the skeleton sound too! For the readers out there Besthoven and Skeleton both had 7”s on Cries of Pain records so they agreed to release the split LP, however the label folded and Matt continued alone with The Total End Records (who put out the split), and Mick continued alone with Room 101 Records (who put out the besthoven LP). Both guys do a great job at running a label that needless to say Skeleton and Besthoven are very happy with how our LP turned out.

6.what about your area scene??? good bands...zines...places to play,etc...

Winnipeg has a really great punk scene right now. I would say one of the best in Canada given the size of our city. Many bands right now are doing vinyl and everyone is active with shows, touring, etc. We also have a collectively run punk/metal record store called War On Music that has in-store shows and is one of the best things to happen to this city since Skeleton formed (haha). Most of the punk shows in town happen at all ages venues, basements, etc. Some notable punk bands here are Born Bad, Search and Destroy, Under Pressure, No Fun, Raiden, Vile Hands, Modern Problems, Skunk, Achagathus, Dead Dogs, Kursk…and more! There is an upcoming covers show where local bands do a tribute to older bands…Skeleton is performing as Anti-Cimex. Fun all the time!!

7.what do you know about brazilian scene??? and what do you enjoy from here???

I know that Brazil has an excellent raw grindcore scene. The most notable (and one of my favourite grind bands) being ROT, who I believe just disbanded. I am an enthusiast of oldschool grind and it seems that Brazilian grinders are mentally stuck in 1989! Totally killer stuff coming from there. As well, I have noticed a lot of raw punk bands from Brazil (and elsewhere in South America) that just rule and often have a noticeable Finnish influence...Desestre, for example…

8.talking about war....what do you feel when you see/hear news about war crisis in Georgia for example?...

War is a complicated, horrible thing. I don’t think I know enough about the situation to give an in depth analysis of what’s going on but I think I speak for most rational minded, concerned people when I ask “WHY?”.

9.some future plan to tour in brazil???...

Ah Hell, I would love to. Skeleton has never toured before due to our busy schedules in life and with other touring bands, but Skeleton definitely plans to tour Europe sometime in the next couple years…then maybe South America! Tony/Abuse Records actually mentioned something about this…!

10- know that you(Dan) are involved in others bands and projects...like ARCHAGATUS,LOUTISH...can you say more about them??? how stuffs was released,etc...and about the others SKELETON members too if they are involved in others bands and projects,etc...ok???

Yeah I play in a handful of bands, I do a grind/mincecore band called Archagathus which draws heavily from Rot, Dahmer, AGx, etc. and has a lot of releases planned and some vinyl, tapes, cds out already. Loutish is a fast raw punk band that sounds a lot like Crudity and Mob 47, there is a 7” out now and a 2nd 7” in the works. Myself and our bassist Cam also play in Under Pressure, and he plays bass in a raw grind band called Violent Gorge, who just rule. Mike our drummer plays in a band called Dead Dogs that have a 7” out and have a bit of an old Uncurbed sound about them!

11.what more else??/ tell what do you want...merch...message...etc.....
Thanks for the interview Fofao! We have a few t-shirts for sale if anyone is interested, as well as copies of the skeleton/dead dogs live tape…which turned out great for a live release. Contact us at: myspace.com/skeleton skeleton_attack@hotmail.com

KARNE KRUA INTERVIEW-2008

Well,is with a great pleasure that i´m publishing this interview with Silvio the leader of amazing KARNE KRUA band,that is alive in the scene in Aracajú-Sergipe=Brazil since 1985(!!!!!)...Silvio is a true warrior of underground!! beyond KARNE KRUA he edited tons of zines in the 80s and 90s like the great "BURACAJÚ" zine for example...they worked too in a distro label called "LOKAOS TAPES" too...and many others works and played in some others bands too like LOGORRÉIA too...etc...etc...
My first contact with them was back in 1989-1990 and KARNE KRUA is in the pages of my zine VERMYNOZE PUTRIDA number 2(!!) so maaaaaaaany years ago=when the internet was not "all" in the life of the people but in same way the things worked and happened...(!!!)...
Good winds come to say that we finnaly will see the force of KARNE KRUA live here in d.f. state!! soon!!!
Meanwhile we have here this short interview...

VP=Tell us a little about the history of the band...since that you are playing since 1985(!!)i think you have so many things to say...
SILVIO=yeah,we started in 1985,then in all this time many things happens,line up changes,problems continues,co´z no one want to pay money for the our shows appeareance and it is not helping to do others works and stuffs...pay studio...but i think is not good to keeping in the fight looking for help for the productions and works from the band...we are many know but we are not be paying well...it´s many hard.

VP=Who are the members today?? do you are playing in some others bands,etc??
SILVIO=the KARNE KRUA line up today is=Silvio=vocals,Adriano=drums,Alexandre=GUITARS AND VOCALS,Ivo=bass and vocals.Me and Adriano played in a blues band called MÁQUINA BLUES,Ivo are palying at RENEGADES OF PUNK,Alexandre today plays only with KARNE KRUA.

VP=Checking my zines collection i found stuffs from KARNE KRUA in zines from Mexico=94-95 more or less and i know that you was ever a great warrior from the brazilian scene!! how is the divulgation of your work today?? you are keeping contacts,letters ,etc...?
SILVIO=i don´t have time for letters today,but with the zines we made our name,our gigs means our life and i keep thinking that it´s just the beguin...the band today have some propaganda,sometimes in internet,zines or t-shirts.

VP=Always i keep on my mind that the big triangle of your area was you(from Aracajú)+DELINQUENTES(from Pará) and CÂMBIO NEGRO HC(Recife)...do you still keep contacts each others??
SILVIO=Today we don´t have contacts,but in the past we was really near one each other...i think that DELINQUENTES is still in activities,but i don´t have any information about CÂMBIO NEGRO HC after Marlio(ex-KARNE KRUA)left them,i lost my contacts with them...and i don´t know if they are still playing.

VP=Silvio edited some zines in 80´s and 90´s,one of them was the amazing BURACAJÚ(that i have the number 8 yet!!!) had the label and store LOKAOS (that i have some tapes from too...)beyond plays in others bands like LOGORRÉIA too...and today??? how is this guy in the SEGIPE scene??
SILVIO=Always i´m keeping in the local underground scene,bands,zines,...some bands broke up...others come back...LOGORRÉIA is back too and i play in others bands and projects today too.

VP=what are the biggest influences today in your work with KARNE KRUA?? And how comes the idea to use a piece of ZÉ RAMALHO song in your cd"em carne viva"(that i think it was great!!)??
SILVIO=old punk rock/hc and some influences of 80´s trash...ZÉ RAMALHO always was inspiring,in fact the poem in the beguin of the song "de repente" the idea was to he made this,unfortunatelly don´t happens,he was ok to do this,but their producer difficulty this a lot looking for money,and our record is a project with help of FAC(fofão´s note=a little help of govermment to independent musicians)then we made without their participation...then we dedicates that song to he and we used a little prhase of one of their song.

VP=Why "KARNE KRUA" ??(Note:the band name means something like "Raw Meat")...
SILVIO=we´re the lively meat that feeds the system...the "raw meat" are all of us that feeling in the skin(meat)all types of aggression=policial aggression,nuclear,rascist...all you feel in the meat=skin.

VP=What´s the news now?? did you have palyed many gigs?? any new record is coming?? and about comes to play here in d.f.??
SILVIO=No,we aren´t play many gigs,but always many great,yeah i have a work to release in this year yet called "INANIÇÃO"("Starvation")...to play there in d.f. i hope to be great! to see old friends and be together in a cool local gig.we will enjoy a lot!

VP=What do you know about the scene in d.f.?? what bands you enjoy?? and what bands you´d like to play together?
SILVIO=I know many things...some bands i don´t know if is still active...but i enjoy Death Slam,Besthöven,Terror Revolucionário,D.F.C.,I enjoyed a lot Disgrace i think that band was many cool...to split the stage with bands that are like us in the fight,being metal,punk,grind,death...always is cool and the prinicipal is the respect between all.

VP=You are in "myspace" just few time ago...how is being the divulgation and reception of people is nice in the "internet" ways?
SILVIO=Yeah,i think it all help with the divulgation and is something really positive.
ADRIANO=it is many good all this divulgation in internet...for who don´t know KARNE KRUA works can be know well...

VP=And the "MEAT"(KARNE) is still "RAW"(KRUA)?
SILVIO=OF COURSE!!!

VP=And is this...final words...
